Mandy’s Monthly!- February
Hello Everyone! I am going to “attempt” to write a monthly blog about our travels & the race team.
Please bear with me as I am new at all this. Daryn & I along with Glenno returned from Australia on January 14th. Our Australia trip was full of rain and canceled events! (A trend that would continue even in the USA) The boys worked for about 2 weeks and then we were ready to head to East Bay in Tampa for the 360 races. We left late on a Wednesday night after packing the motor home in the sleet and snow! We figured that we had better try to get out of town before getting snowed in! What we did not think about was trying to find a place to stay that was warmer so the motor home would not freeze the lines!! After 2 days we ended up in Tampa.
After debuting the florescent red frame, which everyone seems to like, at East Bay and 3 nights of racing with not so good results we headed to Volusia for the 410 races. The first night of the All Star races was great for Team Titan up until the feature!! We set quick time which is one of our goals this season. The team knows that last year we received the hard charger ….a lot so this year we just want to qualify better and give ourselves a better chance to start and finish up front.
After 6 nights of racing in sunny Florida with just mediocre results we headed back to East Bay for “practice.” The “practice” ended up being rained out so we headed over to New Orleans to see the sights. I have never seen so many homeless people in one place ever! It was such a sad sight to see hundreds of people under bridges living in tents. It really makes you thankful for the things you do have. We drove around the city (getting lost a lot) and saw the grave sites, the beautiful grand homes, and then stopped of to see the famous Bourbon Street. To sum it up….bars and strip clubs galore! We did not stay that long as it was raining and we were suppose to race the next day.
Rain, rain go away! Magnolia, MS was rained out early in the morning due to overnight showers so the boys headed west and we headed north to Memphis to see my family. After a couple of days we headed back home to Indy. Daryn was ready to fly out on Thursday for Tulare and boom rained out! So instead we went to a hockey game for our Indiana Ice. We have become big fans. The Ice is a young team (I think age 20 and under) so there are usually a lot of fights which makes it even better to watch!
After a week of catching up on bills and messing around the shop Daryn flew out Friday night to Phoenix. Daryn raced and I went to motorcross with a few friends. If none of you have ever been to a motorcross race I recommend you go. The atmosphere was great and very entertaining! I really felt like I was at an event….lights, smoke, music. There was always something going on. It made me wish our races did a better job with driver intros and such.
Phoenix was again disappointing as Daryn was running 11th in the A and something in the u joint broke and ended our night. The boys (Daryn, Glenno, and Mike) left Phoenix and drove for 30 hours straight to get back to the shop on Monday morning. Back to the business of hurry up and wait for the next race!
Just to let everyone know I have ordered new hoodies and tshirts for 2008. Look for the TMAC and Pittman Crazy Combo at a WOO race soon!
Also, we would like your opinion: Would you like to see Team Titan debut a new Knoxville Nationals paint scheme this year?
Well, hopefully March will bring us more racing and better results! Chat next month!
