Mandy’s Monthly!- December
Happy New Year Everyone!
One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to do a better job on my monthly blogs. Sorry!
The off season has been really busy! Daryn and I went on vacation to Hawaii with a few friends and had a blast although I did miss my baby, but I know that my parents enjoyed spending that time with her. My parents live in Memphis, TN and Daryn’s parents live in Tulsa, OK therefore, we travel even when race season is over! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving in Memphis then drove to Tulsa then home! After we returned home; and it was full throttle working on the midget for the Kansas City “Twas the Night Before the Midgets” We headed out in the motorhome with Taylor, Dave Sharpley (our crew chief), and Dave Nesbit (tire specialist!!) The race was fun, but the track is so tiny I think I could outrun the midgets in the corners!! One car would stall in the corner and five would pile up behind them! Anyway it was fun and gives DP more time behind the wheel before Chili Bowl.
We had our first Christmas at home! I loved it!! Santa brought Taylor a new car walker and she loves it. She is crawling all over the place and pulling up on anything that she can reach. We are having a blast with her. She learns things so quickly and seems to be growing up too fast!
This off season has seen Daryn in more cars for 2010 than he has ever driven …at least the message boards have! Rumor Mill City! I just read what people are writing and laugh. Daryn is thankful to drive sprint cars full time and to be able to support our family. The only measure of success is in that person’s mind. We are grateful for all the success Daryn has had and hope and pray for more. We should all be thankful to live in America so we can be entitled to our own opinions BTW the #17 car has HRP wings and GME steering!
Daryn will be driving the #17 Keen Motorsports sprinter beginning in Florida in February. The team’s schedule will be similar to last years with All Star Races, WOO races, and of course local shows. We enjoyed our time in PA last year, and expect the same this year. (Hopefully more wins though!! )
We will soon be headed to the Chili Bowl! Daryn races on Friday. I like the Chili Bowl atmosphere but midgets make me nervous!! Thanks to Bob Hurley Ford for sponsoring the car!
A lot of friends are going through some pretty tough times now days and I want you all to know that we are thinking about you and hope things get better soon!
I am truly blessed to have a happy, healthy family and friends that surround me with their love!
Thanks Everyone!
