After only one weekend under their belts together Keen Motorsports and Daryn Pittman packed their bags and headed southwest to the World of Outlaw races in Lawrenceburg, IN this past weekend. The team wanted test their abilities with the best traveling series in the business. The outcome was positive, but left room for improvement.
Friday night saw the #17 time in the 13th position out of 33 cars present. Daryn lead the way in the heat race and was never threatened by another car. The heat race win allowed the Keen Motorsports team to be in the draw for the dash. The JEI chassis team started 7th in the dash and finished 9th, meaning the #17 would line up inside row five for the feature. Despite a strong run early in the feature the team ended the night in 13th position. "I feel that we were not that good in the feature, but that we learned alot from changes we made after the heat and will build upon those," stated Daryn after Friday nights action.
Saturday night saw the Hunter Truck Sales sprinter time in 14th position out of 26 cars, which meant the team had to start behind the invert. The team started 6th in heat 2 and finished an impressive 4th passing several World of Outlaw regulars. The heat race finish allowed the team to advance to the 14th starting position in the main event. After being held up by a slower car for several laps Daryn found his rhythm and passed a few cars finishing a solid 11th place. "I wish we had more laps I finally got around the slower cars and lap traffic was making things interesting. I feel like our car was alot better tonight and that we had a better car than our finish shows," stated Daryn after the 40 lap feature event.
Overall, the Peterbilt Keen Motorsports team is satisfied with their results and hope to build more momentum going into the All Star weekend close to home this weekend. "I think our weekend went well. Matt & I are learning more about the motors and car each race. We are steadily getting better and better each night out. I am happy with our weekend and feel after only 2 weekends together we are definitely on the right page and hopefully a win is just right around the corner," stated Daryn. The team is gearing up for the All Stars this weekend at Williams Grove Speedway Friday night, Lincoln Speedway Saturday night, and the Central PA Speedway Sunday.
Special thanks to our sponsors for their continued support - Hunter Truck Sales, Peterbilt, and Shell Rotella T.
