Keen Team Celebrates In Victory Lane!
Despite having several top ten finishes the last couple of weeks the Keen team was not satisfied until Friday night at the Williams Grove Mitch Smith Memorial when standing in victory lane! “I just have to thank Jesse and Lorraine Keen for the opportunity to drive this car. They have been so good to me and my family. Jesse has given us everything we have asked for and more and I am happy to put him in victory lane” stated Pittman after the win.
Pittman qualified in the third position after turning a good lap on the slick track in the Keen Motorsports #17. In the heat race the Keen team lined up in the sixth position. Pittman raced his way into the fifth and final transfer spot with 5 laps remaining. The invert for the feature would be a six lining the #17 up in the third position. Daryn quickly raced into the second position by using the high line to pass several cars despite falling back on the initial start. The Peterbilt #17 tracked the leader down quickly on the back stretch as Kemenah pulled to the infield with mechanical woes Pittman inherited the lead. “I felt like before the #35 pulled in we were tracking him down in a hurry. The car was very good in the feature I could really go anywhere on the track and felt fast. Matt, Pickles, and Jonesy have worked so hard the last few weeks and it feels great to give something back for their hard work,” stated Pittman.
Pittman led 26 laps in route to his first Williams Grove victory in 2009. As Bruce Ellis welcomed Daryn to victory lane he accepted the $10,000 check and trophies along with the 2009 Williams Grove feature winner flag. “People do not realize it but this flag here means a lot. I don’t care if the race only paid $1000 to win to be able to stand on the front stretch at Williams Grove in front of all these great fans and hold this flag as the winner means you had a great night. This is the by far the hardest place in the country to win a race and I hope I am back here next week too!” stated Pittman in victory lane.
The Hunter Truck Sales #17 team will pack up again and head to Port Royal Saturday and the speed week finale on Sunday at Selinsgrove. “Hopefully we can keep the momentum going and end the week on a good note.” Pittman said.
The Keen Team would like to thank Peterbilt, Hunter Truck Sales and Shell Rotella T for their support.
