Mandy’s Monthly!- September

Hello! It’s September already!! August was a busy month for us as we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Knoxville Nationals. Daryn drove myself and Taylor to the 360 Nationals to spend the weekend with Poppy and Mimi. He flew out to race in PA and returned Sunday. Taylor had a blast and showcased all her talents for her grandparents and their friends.

Daryn raced “The Front Row Challenge” and had a bad vibration so he pulled in. The team then changed the motor, driveline, etc for the prelim night Thursday. Taylor spent most of the week with Nana and Papa and their friends, she was great with the exception of a couple of days and was grouchy! She cut 3 teeth that week and had double ear infections- poor baby, but she was back to her old self by Friday of the Nationals and was entertaining everyone in sight! She swam in her pool, visited the neigh neighs (The Budweiser Horses) at least 50 times, and wore her crew shirt proudly while yelling “Go Da Da!” She loved the #13 pig on the front of the race car …she would pat it and give her best pig face to anyone watching. She definitely has a mind of her own with her own little personality. She entertains me and Daryn non stop!

We had a great prelim effort at the Nationals and ended up 6th in points. We finished the Knoxville Nationals in 11th place which is great, but a little disappointing to be that close in the biggest race of the year yet that far away. Anyway, Congrats to Timmy Shaffer!

Special Special THANK YOU to Brandi, Rusty, and Charlie for working the t-shirt trailer!!! Without you all I could not enjoy the Nationals!! THANKS!!

Taylor and I stayed home the next few weeks and went to the fair and did all sorts of fun things!

The next few weekends saw Daryn driving back and forth to PA. The call I received from Lincoln that he was getting in the ambulance with an arm injury was not what I wanted to hear. It ended up being a really bad bruise and no broken bones- thank goodness. His right arm looked like he ate Popeye’s spinach in one arm!! He just kept saying it always looks like that – yeah right muscle man!! LOL

The next week saw a good friend, Anita, get really sick really fast in Indy. The girls and myself all jetted to the hospital to see her daily and she is getting better as we speak. The races are surely not the same without her there and I am sure United Airlines is definitely missing her! Get Well Soon Anita!

Taylor and I packed up the motorhome and headed back to PA with Daddy for the Triple 20’s weekend. Daryn won the first feature at the Grove, the 360 race at Selinsgrove, and the Labor Day Classic on Monday. It was a fantastic weekend! Taylor enjoyed playing with her friend Gracyn all weekend and Goofy made it to victory lane on Monday. Goofy is her security blanket. He goes everywhere now and even eats with us!!

Right now we are sitting at Port Royal waiting for engines to fire for the Tuscarora 50! Hopefully it will lead to victory lane!!
