Mandy’s Monthly!- November

Well…for those who do not know I am pregnant! Baby Pittman is expected to arrive around April 3rd! Everything is going really well!
Anyway, it was nice to end the season on a good note in Charlotte with 2 solid qualifying efforts and 2 solid finishes. It was again a sold out crowd at the venue for the year end finals. The late models put on a good show, but I am still a little bias about our program so I think it was better!..READ MORE
Mandy’s Monthly!- October

Well, since the last monthly I have been at home while the boys have been logging some serious mileage. Daryn hopped in the truck and trailer and rode with the team to the MN weekend as the boys were coming back home. The weekend consisted of some average finishes with a rubber down track and a bad qualifying night.
After a couple of days at home the boys loaded up and headed west to NM and then onto CA. They did enjoy a couple of days in Vegas, but I am sure leaving with empty pockets was not much fun! I finally got to go to a Colts home game and they WON!! It seems my football team just cannot find much consistency ….unfortunately similar to the race team. ..READ MORE
Mandy’s Monthly!- September

Well, we are back home for just a few days before we head to Minnesota. Since the last entry we have driven across the country from CA back to the Midwest and watched it rain a lot more!
After driving about 26 hours to get to Spencer, IA from Chico, CA we did enjoy the fair food at the track. It was nice to have a big selection at the dirt track for once…pure fair food! We made a small stop on the way from CA to IA to watch the Colts game on tv in Reno, NV but other than that we were pretty much driving all day and night...READ MORE
Pittman Primed to Take to the Track at Heartland Park Topeka
Topeka, KS— September 12, 2008—While Heartland Park Topeka in Kansas is not really a home track event for Daryn Pittman, it is a race that he always marks on the calendar, and a track that he has done very well at over the years. The native of Owasso, Oklahoma has been close to winning at Heartland Park Topeka with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series a couple of times in his career, including last season when he finished a career-best third.READ MORE
Mandy’s Monthly!- August

Well, I apologize for the delay in the monthly column. Maybe I should call it Mandy’s Month and a half! ? Anyway, the build up to Nationals was crazy getting the new Nationals car ready and everything organized for the week. We have picked up 3 wins since we last talked: Wilmot Speedway, The Front Row Challenge, and the WOO race in Fargo, ND. The crew guys we have now are great! It is so nice for Daryn and Glenno to not have to worry about the car or the tires. Eric and Dave aka Spider are great team players and we hope they enjoy it here with us as much as we enjoy having them apart of our team. THANKS GUYS!..READ MORE
Pittman Powers to Win at Red River Valley Speedway
West Fargo, ND— August 12, 2008—It took Daryn Pittman 13 starts over the course of five seasons to earn his first Top-10 finish at Red River Valley Speedway, but since that event in 2002, he has picked up a total of 10 Top-10 finishes at track located in West Fargo, North Dakota and had been inching his way closer to a win...READ MORE
Daryn Pittman Gains Momentum Heading Into Knoxville
August 5, 2008
By Bob Jones
Racing is a demanding sport. Over the course of a season a racing team experiences highs and lows, ups and downs, and a roller coaster ride of emotions. Heading into what is commonly known as “The Month of Money”, Daryn Pittman’s 2008 racing season on the Advanced Auto Parts World of Outlaws Tour certainly hadn’t been what any of the Titan Racing USA Team had hoped for. The team found themselves sitting 11th in points and despite some solid runs, had yet to crack into the winner’s circle. That would all change at Eldora Speedway for the 25th running of the Kings Royal.
“We’ve just had some really bad luck this year. We’ve been in position to win a couple times when circumstances happen that take us out of the race. But I’m a firm believer that you make your own luck out here racing with the Outlaws. All it takes is one race to turn your season around. And that is exactly what happened at Eldora,” said Pittman. “We were to the point that we just needed to win a race…any race, but for it to happen at one of the big ones is just an added bonus. Sure it pays good, but to know my name is up there with some of the great ones to have won that race is a real honor. That is something they can’t take away from us,” said “King Daryn the 25th”..READ MORE
A Score to Settle: Daryn Pittman Wins at Wilmot Speedway
Wilmot, WI— August 1, 2008—Daryn Pittman had a score to settle at Wilmot Speedway in Wisconsin on Friday night. After leading a majority of the race in the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series inaugural visit to the track in 2006, he wound up third after a three-car battle on the last lap sent him spinning backwards across the finish line. He picked up that win which eluded him two years ago, on Friday night as he led 32 of the 40 laps to earn his third A-Feature win of the season..READ MORE
A Triumphant Return: Pittman Wins Opening Night of Summer Nationals at Williams Grove
Mechanicsburg, PA— July 18, 2008—Daryn Pittman was a little worried heading into the Cleveland Brothers Summer Nationals at the famed Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night, after missing the main event the last time the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series visited the half-mile in May. He made up for that in a big way on Friday night, making a thrilling pass on two-time defending series champion Donny Schatz with just three laps remaining to pick up the win. .READ MORE
Mandy’s Monthly!- July
Well, I was once told by Amy Swindell after Daryn won the HBO that you should enjoy the moments of victory because those times of excitement are fewer than the days that will be hard. The phrase has new meaning as this season has been a struggle for everyone involved with Titan not only with bad results but mentally draining, but after the elation of the King’s Royal win it will hopefully wipe the slate clean and we can continue the season with success!..READ MORE
Good to be King: Daryn Pittman Wins 25th Annual Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway
Rossburg, OH— July 13, 2008— Daryn Pittman has been searching for a spark all season long, as he has been close a number of times to breaking through for his first win of the campaign. He has had a number of strong runs cut short by bad luck, but that all changed on Sunday night as a fast race car and a little good fortune found him, as he was victorious in the 25th Annual Kings Royal at the famed Eldora Speedway in Ohio, with the cameras from SPEED capturing all of the action.
Pittman inherited the lead on the 28th lap after Joey Saldana who was leading came to a stop after making contact with the back straightaway wall due to a flat right rear tire. Pittman would lead on the restart and held off Jason Meyers on the last lap in traffic to pick up his first Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series win of the season. It was his third career win at Eldora Speedway, and he became the 14th winner of the famed Kings Royal and the fifth different winner in the last five years, as he donned the traditional purple robe, received the crown and held the scepter as he sat atop the throne with the Kings Court. The $50,000 triumph was his 26th career World of Outlaws win, which moved him into 15th on the all-time list...READ MORE
Daryn Pittman and Titan Racing, USA Announce A New Knoxville Nationals Paint Scheme
By Bob Jones
July 10, 2008
Daryn Pittman and Titan Racing, USA are pleased to announce an exciting new look for the Titan 21 for the 48th Annual Knoxville Nationals. In recent years on the World of Outlaws tour the Titan 21 is known for its gloss black paint and neon Titan Carports & Garages logo, but Pittman and car owner Reeve Kruck have decided it is time for something special.
“The Knoxville Nationals is the biggest event in sprint car racing and we wanted to do something a little different this year. We had a fan poll on our website to see if race fans wanted to see a special paint scheme and the response was overwhelmingly in favor of us putting something together for a Knoxville Nationals car. I think the fans will be shocked when they see it because it is so different from what the Titan car is known for,” said Pittman.
As part of the Knoxville Nationals tradition, the media members vote on the best appearing car and crew. “We hope to be in the running for the awards, but really this is something we did for the fans. It creates excitement and people really respond to the new colors and designs. It just adds to the “buzz” that surrounds the Nationals week,” said Pittman.READ MORE
A Win to Remember: Daryn Pittman Looks for Success in Follow Up to Emotional Victory Last Season at Riverside International Speedway
West Memphis, AR— July 4, 2008— Daryn Pittman is usually one of the most calm, cool and collected drivers in the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series pit area, but he could not help but getting emotional after winning at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas with the series last season.
Not only was it the series first visit to the always racy ¼-mile in over 25 years and his first career win at the track, but he was victorious with a large contingent of family and friends in attendance, including his wife Mandy’s stepfather who was battling cancer at the time.. READ MORE
Mandy’s Monthly!- JUNE
Well, I know long time and no updates! Sorry! Since the last time I checked in our results have been nothing to write home about so I will leave the racing results on that note.
On the other hand, we have been logging some serious mileage the last few weeks. From home to PA to NC to IA to SD to NE. As I write we are in a Wal Mart parking lot in Lincoln, NE waiting to head to Dodge City on Wednesday.
We have been doing a little sightseeing on our adventures. We went to the Hershey Museum while in Carlisle and bought quite a bit of chocolate. The smell of that place was great!
Then on our way to Attica we stopped by Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH. I am not that much of a roller coaster person, but Daryn is! He rode everything in the park including the Top Thrill Dragster which was his favorite. Glenno and I enjoyed watching and waiting. The ride shoots straight up at 120 mph and then heads straight back down. The look on everyone’s face as they wait for “take off” is priceless. Daryn actually made me go on the Millenium Coaster, and after almost chickening out as we loaded on I loved it. It was the smoothest coaster I have ever been on. I like the coasters once I am on them, but the getting on and getting strapped in makes me claustrophobic so I usually chicken out. We had a blast and it was a nice day off for all of us. READ MORE

Hello Everyone! Daryn was taken to the hospital last night after getting upside down in heat 2 and landing on all four wheels really hard. There were no fractures or compression of the spine. He is still in a little pain today, but plans on racing tonight at Eldora.
THANKS to everyone for thinking about us!
Virginia Motor Speedway...Turning things around!
What a beautiful facility! After timing in a disappointing 14th quick out of 23 cars, Daryn made up for it in heat three. Starting from the 5th position Pittman raced in second with 2 laps remaining securing him a spot in the Crane Cams Dash. After the pill draw, which Daryn drew a 2, he raced to the early lead and never looked back claiming the dash win. In the
25 lap main event Jason Meyers got a good start and surged ahead with Daryn following closely in the second position. On lap 17 Meyers bobbled and Daryn to the front, but the lead was short lived as Meyers passed him back on the next lap. Lapped traffic paired the pair nose to tail at the end of the race, but Meyers prevailed and Pittman took home a close second.
"Hopefully this is just a start to the turn around for our season. We have been struggling this year and having anything that could go wrong..go wrong. With a second place under our belt hopefully we can keep the momentum going," said Daryn after the feature.
Next up: Monday, Rolling Wheels Speedway in Elbridge, NY
Checking in from Charlotte...
It was amazing to see the sun all day long, and actually have a race without a chance of rain. The Titan machine timed in 3rd quick in the 27 car field.
After starting fourth in heat three Pittman finished 3rd, qualifying the Titan Machine for the dash. In the Dash the misery began...entering turn one on lap one the car just stopped. The trouble ended up being a broken heim on the throttle linkage. An easy fix for the crew but the DNF made the team start 10th in the A main. After getting a great start in the A main Daryn came to stop on lap 4 with a broken rear end.
After surveying the damage the crew found a broken rear end, broken drive line, and the crank in the motor was broken...needless to say an expensive night for the team. Hopefully everyone watched us LIVE on SPEED!
Next up a 4 1/2 hour drive to Virginia Motor Speedway and hopefully better luck soon!!
Pittman Looks for First Win at Lernerville in First Commonwealth Bank Clash
Sarver, PA— May 12, 2008— Daryn Pittman has visited the winner’s circle at some of the most famed tracks in all of sprint car racing during his career, including: Eldora Speedway, Manzanita Speedway, Silver Dollar Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway. One track that is missing from that list is Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania. CLEAN SWEEP
Hello from somewhere in the middle of Missouri at 3:00am! With the WOO rained out at Granite City Team Titan headed to the IRA race in Burlingto, IA at 34 Raceway. What a beautiful facility and the track was awesome. It was some of the best racing I have seen all year. It helped that the Titan Team made a clean sweep! Daryn set a new track record in qualifying at a 12.4. This high banked 3/8th track made for great heat races. Daryn started heat 1 is sixth and made the winning pass on the white flag lap. We started the feature in the 8th position after drawing the 4 inversion. The feature was a great race to watch with 3 grooves! Daryn made the pass for the lead on lap 22 using a low side move on Lasoski. After that he never looked back and made the evening a clean sweep!!!
If you are considering attending the WOO race at 34 Raceway in July you should definitly go! The racing was unbelievable and had the crowd on their feet!
Mandy’s Monthly!- April
Well, it seems that I have jinxed us on the rain so I am not going to say anything bad except…I wish it would stop! :) We have raced only 5 times in the month of April! We have had 6 WOO races and now 9 rainouts!
Everyone is bored! The boys continue to fly their airplanes and reorganize everything again!
We raced Pevely and ended up with a 7th place finish. The fans are awesome there and I always look forward to any Pevely races. The track was a lot different than the normal Pevely conditions, but it still ended up being a great race. We hoped to do better there, but were just a little off. READ MORE
FINALLY PITTMAN POWERS ON AT PEVELY

After some interminable delays in the WoO schedule (the weather has been far less than cooperative) Daryn Pittman and the Titan Racing USA team finally got to stand on the gas at Pevely in Missouri over the weekend.
With the weather being poor all week leading up to the event the normally racy Pevely surface was a challenge to say the least with track staff having to re-work the track after qualifying.
Daryn Pittman qualified the Titan #21 in position 7 during qualifying which gave him an outside front row start that he was able to convert to a strong heat win over renowned hard charger Tim Shaffer.READ MORE

Rain Rain GO AWAY and don‘t come back on race day!!
As most of you are aware a driver gets paid based off the amount of money the car makes per night. Needless to say, not much racing = not much money! Anyway, it has been the same for everyone, and we did get a few shows in during the month. We took at road trip to PA to race at Selinsgrove, Lincoln, and The Grove; but the rained followed us and we only got Lincoln in. We finished 4th, but it was great to see some of our PA fans. It was actually a really good showing with tons of cars, and the feature was a great race. READ MORE
Mandy’s Monthly!- February
Hello Everyone! I am going to “attempt” to write a monthly blog about our travels & the race team.
Please bear with me as I am new at all this. Daryn & I along with Glenno returned from Australia on January 14th. Our Australia trip was full of rain and canceled events! (A trend that would continue even in the USA) The boys worked for about 2 weeks and then we were ready to head to East Bay in Tampa for the 360 races. We left late on a Wednesday night after packing the motor home in the sleet and snow! We figured that we had better try to get out of town before getting snowed in! What we did not think about was trying to find a place to stay that was warmer so the motor home would not freeze the lines!! After 2 days we ended up in Tampa. READ MORE
EVENTFUL START TO LONG SEASON FOR PITTMAN
Daryn Pittman’s been around long enough to know one thing for certain; it’s a long season ahead despite the trials and tribulations at Florida Speedweeks, and so the team move onward after an eventful time of it over the last three nights.
The fluoro chassis is a big hit with fans and rival teams and once again the Titan Team are one of the leaders when it comes to racecar, hauler and team presentation.
The competition in Florida was typically keen with the field in qualifying being incredibly tight across the 56 cars including 24 of which being WoO cars!
A key ambition this season for Daryn and Team Titan is to qualify well and in that respect all goals were met on all three nights with stout times put in by the flying #21 jet black Maxim READ MORE

Minot Magic: Pittman Wins Magic City Showdown at Nodak Speedway
Minot, ND—Aug. 14, 2007--By: Tony Veneziano, World of Outlaws PR Director
Daryn Pittman knew it would be no easy task to win at Nodak Speedway on Tuesday night in the Magic City Showdown. He knew that the man to beat was reigning World of Outlaws champion Donny Schatz, who was born and raised in Minot, and was fresh off his second consecutive Knoxville Nationals win last Saturday night. On top of that, Schatz began the night by blistering the existing track record in time trials by over three-tenths of a second.
None of that stopped Pittman, as he battled Schatz along with 20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser for the $10,000 winner’s check and after 35 hard fought laps, he came out on top to earn his fourth A-Feature win of the season and second on a 3/8-mile track.
“Any win is good,” said Pittman, driver of the Titan Garages Maxim. “This is great for this whole team. We’ve been fast, but we haven’t been giving ourselves a chance to win a race. I’m tickled to death to get this, in front of this great crowd.” READ MORE

Race Report: Pittman Powers to Volusia Victory

By Tony Veneziano, World of Outlaws PR Director
BARBERVILLE, FL — Last season Daryn Pittman patiently waited until
early June to make his first visit of the season to Victory Lane. This year,
he made sure that it would not take nearly as long, as he led wire-to-wire
on Sunday night in finale of three straight nights of racing for the World
of Outlaws as part of the 36th Annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals Presented
by Mopar Speedshop.
After winning the dash to earn the pole position for the 30-lap event,
he held off a hard charging Tim Kaeding and Donny Schatz, in heavy lapped
traffic. The pair staged a fierce battle for the second spot in the late
going as they chased Pittman, who used strong restarts twice in the late
going to pull away. The $12,000 triumph was the 20th of his career in World
of Outlaws action.
“It is a great way to get started and a great boost for the whole
team,” said Pittman, driver of the Titan Garages Maxim. “It’s
always good to get a win at the end of the week. Our team just keeps getting
better every year, and hopefully we can stay consistent and get wins when
we can.”
Starting the season off on a high note was one of Pittman’s goals
for 2007, and after the win, he is well on his way. The veteran driver was
one of the most consistent drivers over the last three months of last season.
“No matter who you are and how long you have been doing this and how
many wins you have, come June and July if you have no wins, car owners get
a little antsy,” he said. “They spend a lot of money and want
wins. Being able to always refer back to getting one early is great. We
got one now and we have some confidence, and hopefully we can go out and
get some more.”
With a cross-country trip awaiting the team, Pittman is glad that they
will have some time to go back to the shop and prepare to head to California
at their own pace. The group led by Crew Chief Glenno Inglis, who was battling
illness during the late stages of the DIRTcar Nationals, will have an enjoyable
trip back to their shop in Indiana.
“We going to go home and relax,” Pittman commented. “My
crew has worked their tails off. Every year when we come to Florida we come
down here ready for 100 races. We don’t go home to build cars. We’ll
do the maintenance on the car we ran tonight and take it to Tulare. My guys
are going to get some time off. We are ready to go. I look forward to going
home and fine tuning on a few things so we can keep getting better.”
Tim Kaeding made a late charge for the lead, as he closed the gap on
Pittman with a couple laps to go. On the final lap, he and Donny Schatz
staged an entertaining battle for the second spot, as they both were just
behind Pittman. Schatz used a slide job on Kaeding to momentarily move into
the second spot exiting the fourth turn. Kaeding immediately fought back
and claimed the runner-up spot at the line by mere inches.
“We had a little trouble with this thing taking off, and Daryn would
get ahead of us a little bit,” said Kaeding, driver of the Steve Kinser
Racing Maxim. “I knew Donny was coming eventually and he pulled off
a slider, and I did what I knew how to do and what I needed to do, and that
was turn back underneath him and get back in front of him as quick as I
could and get the air off his wing.”
For Schatz, the reigning series champion, he finished in the Top-Three
each in night of the World of Outlaw portion of the Florida DIRTcar Nationals.
He won the season opener on Friday night, and backed that up with a third-place
run on Saturday night, and was third again on Sunday, after starting the
event on the outside of the third row.
“We came here to win and we were good enough to win all three nights,” said
Schatz, driver of the Parker Store J&J. “Tonight we never really
hit lapped traffic. There were a lot of good cars out here and on an open
race track, it’s hard to pass. We moved around and tried everything
we could. We’re going to head back and do a little work, and hopefully
be as good in California as we were here.”
Terry McCarl raced his way to a fourth-place finish after lining up eight.
The native of Altoona, Iowa finished ninth on Saturday night and backed
that up with a very solid run on Sunday night, as he prepares to head to
Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., where he won in 2004.
“We started the week off doing well with the All Stars, and then kind
of hiccupped a little the first two nights (of the World of Outlaws season),” said
McCarl, driver of the Big Game Treestands Eagle. “We need to keep
getting in the Top-Five this year. It’s going to be pretty brutal
this year, so every one of these Top-Five’s is important. “
Tim Shaffer picked up his first Top-Five of the season on Sunday as he
came home fifth in the Casey’s General Stores Maxim.
The rest of the Top-10 was: Danny Lasoski in the Roth Motorsports Eagle
in sixth, Jason Sides in the WTS Maxim in seventh, Joey Saldana charged
from the 24th starting spot in the Open Joist JEI to finish eighth, with
Saturday night’s winner Kerry Madsen in the Selma Shell Maxim in ninth,
and Fred Rahmer in the C&S Lawn & Landscape J&J in 10th.
With Pittman’s victory, the sprint car portion of the Florida DIRTcar
Nationals came to a close, with Craig Dollansky named the Champion. The
native of Elk River, Minn., finished sixth or better in five of the six
events, including two second-place finishes and two fourths. Brad Sweet,
a native of Grass Valley, Calif, was named the Rookie of the Year for the
sprint car portion of the Florida DIRTcar Nationals.
The World of Outlaws return to action on February 23-24 at Thunderbowl
Raceway in Tulare, California.
2007 World of Outlaws Preview: Daryn PIttman
Author: Tony Veneziano - World Of Outlaws PR Director
Daryn Pittman is one of the most focused racers in the
world. He is determined to win every time he hits the track. That intensity
and drive is what has made him so successful over the years with the
World of Outlaws. One of the friendliest drivers off the track, he
is also one of the most fierce when he puts the helmet on and straps
into the cockpit.
Over the course of last season, which stretched from early February
until late October, he racked up an impressive 43 Top-10 finishes.
Pittman won five A-Feature events as well as two preliminary features.
He also turned the quickest lap in time trials, three times. In addition
to this, he was tied for the series lead with eight dash wins, which
earned him seven pole positions. He led 287 laps on the year, second
only to series champion Donny Schatz. When the final points were tallied
up, Pittman matched his career best finish of fourth.
Never resting on his laurels, the veteran driver is ready to begin
the 2007 season, and continue to carry this momentum that he built
throughout last season. His quest will begin with the 36th Annual DIRTcar
Nationals Presented by Mopar Speedshop at Volusia Speedway Park in
Barberville, Florida, February 9-11.
In between two trips to Australia to compete during the off-season,
which saw him score a win in the Kings Challenge at Borderline Raceway,
Pittman and his team have been busy in the shop making sure all the
pieces of the puzzle are in place so that when they hit the road for
the season, they are fully prepared. He is confident that every last
nut and bolt has been tightened and that they have accomplished everything
they had on their off-season “to-do” list.
“The time has gone by pretty fast,” said Pittman, who has
19 career World of Outlaws A-Feature wins. “It is winding down
quick, but we work all year on racing and come about August we start
preparing stuff for the next year. We’re in great shape and everyone
at the shop has done a great job getting the cars built. We’re
definitely ready to go to Volusia and get started. With the increase
in races, that’s more cars that you have to have ready, and more
motors you have to have ready. It’s not just more races, but
its more equipment that you have to be prepared with. We’re looking
forward to that and I think we’re up to that.”
While pleased with how well the team performed last year, Pittman is
always looking to make improvements. Setting his goals high each season,
he is looking to build on the solid foundation that his Titan Racing
team has established the last couple of years.
“We just have to be a little more consistent than last year,” he
commented. “The last two years we have finished the last three
months of the season very strong and very consistent. We just have
to figure out a way to do that all year long. In terms of accumulated
points over the last three months of 2006, we probably would have been
second in points. We just have to step it up.”
With nearly 90 races on the schedule this season, Pittman knows how
important it will be for the team to pace themselves over the long
haul. The native of Owasso, Oklahoma has finished eighth or better
in World of Outlaws championship points in each of the last four seasons,
and knows that as a driver, he cannot dwell on a bad night or two,
but has to find the positives from each race and move on to the next
one.
“We have to come out of the gate at Volusia and be good, and
have a Top-Five car all year,” he explained. “We have to
have our crew and motors and cars working good from February to November.
That’s the big key. We know how to do it in short periods. We
just have to figure out how to do it for nine or ten months.”
After seeing an average car count of 41 machines per event last season,
the always affable driver knows that the competition will be just as
tough this year, especially beginning with the three straight nights
of racing at the DIRTcar Nationals. A record number of nearly 30 drivers
plan to start the season full-time with the World of Outlaws. Also
at Volusia, expect a strong contingent from the O’Reilly All
Star Circuit of Champions, as well as the always tough drivers from
Pennsylvania.
“Last year was a very competitive season,” Pittman said. “A
lot of young guys were able to get out on the road and were tough to
beat by the end of the year. A lot of those guys that are coming back
are going to be even better. It quite possibly could be as competitive
as last season. It’s tough every year, to win an Outlaws show.
I don’t think it will be an easier to win races. It will be tougher
to be consistently in the Top-10. It’s going to be really tough
this year.”
Pittman, who was the 1998 Knoxville Nationals Rookie of the Year, gladly
welcomes the expanded schedule this season that awaits him and his
fellow drivers. They will compete nearly 90 times from coast-to-coast,
as well as making three trips north of the border to Canada.
“The more (races) the better for us, especially as a driver,” he
shared. “It keeps us busy. I feel like we are a better race team
the more we race. The heavier we get into racing, the better I believe
our team shines. I’m definitely looking forward to that, as well
as going back to a few places we skipped out on last year.”
One of the most important pieces of the puzzle for any team is the
crew, and Pittman believes he has one of the strongest and most well
prepared in the business. They helped guide him to a $20,000 victory
in the Summer Nationals at Williams Grove Speedway last July, as well
as a $50,000 triumph in the Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar
(Calif.) Speedway in September.
“No changes here at all,” beamed Pittman. “Glenno
(Inglis) and Bingo (Jenkins) will both be back on the road. It’s
a good solid core group of guys that have been with me for about three
or four years. That’s a big part of our race team, the people
that we have working for us. I’m glad to keep having the same
good guys around.”
After matching his career best finish in points last season and picking
up the seven overall wins, including weekend sweeps at Eagle (Neb.)
Raceway and Princeton (Minn.) Speedway, Pittman has one thing on his
mind entering this season.
“Hands down the goal for the season is the championship,” he
said. “That is what everyone works their tails off for, and dreams
of. We don’t for one second think that we are not capable of
doing it. That’s our main goal and we just have to go out and
prove it. We know it will be tough and it’s a tough task. We
have to go out and win races. The main goal is the championship, and
my second goal is that we have a good Knoxville Nationals.”
